GIANLUCA PETRELLA AND PASQUALE MIRRA
Trombone, electronics, vibraphone and percussion.
An atypical duo presenting a balancing act of melody, rhythm, harmony and electronics.
The desire and the curiosity of both to explore with a lightness of touch diverse musical territories in which they can linger and create together a new path to be followed, allowing the music to show the way thanks to the special understanding between the two remarkable musicians.
The group composed of Davide Merlino, Andrea Cocco, Alessandro dell’Aglio and Davide Broggini is essentially a classic percussion quartet, but one quite happy to use electronics and synths during their live shows. The Waikiki repertoire focuses on compositions written in the third millennium, some of which originals by the group, others by musicians such as Philip Glass, John Psathas and David Skidmore.

DANIELE DI BONAVENTURA
Ritus is a form of sonic journey that winds its way through a sequence of poignant emotive suggestions, characterised by the kind of inspirationally personal performance that derives from Daniele Di Bonaventure’s solo approach to his instrument: the bandoneon. During the concert we find ourselves caught up in the midst of a “celebratory ritual”, created by the musician’s original compositions that range from evocations of sacral chants to dance steps of a Mediterranean flavour, capturing the veiled pathos, that imperceptible melancholy that lend the themes a depth of chiaroscuro and nuance.
GONG, THE SOUND OF THE LAST ROUND
LUCA AQUINO trumpet, electronics
ANTONIO JASEVOLI electric guitar
PIERPAOLO RANIERI electric bass, electronics
Special guest MANU KATCHE’ on drums and percussion
with the words and the narration of GIORGIO TERRUZZI
and the video works of MIMMO PALADINO
The trumpeter Luca Aquino recounts in music the great boxing stories: from Carnera to Muhammad Ali, passing by way of Sugar Ray Robinson, Nicolino Loche and Carlos Monzon, through to Mike Tyson. All the possible notes of jazz are required to describe the feats, the victories and even the great defeats of these legendary athletes. The music of the Luca Aquino Trio, with visuals curated by the great Mimmo Paladino, a leading figure in the Italian Transavantgarde art movement, the texts by Giorgio Terruzzi, one of the brightest and most well-known sports journalists and the drumming of the French musician Manu Katchè, succeed in shedding light on the man behind the great champion, with all his fragility, his dreams and his failures.
Six stories of boxers for six fantastic life stories in which winning or losing is of little importance when the great feat is actually managing to climb into that ring.
