AWARENESS CAMPUS

Practicing the awareness of nature

Curated by Gabriele Vacis and the Institute of Theatrical Practices for Personal Wellness

Today, there are many more people doing theatre and dancing, than going to see theatre and dance. Many artists therefore no longer perceive social action as a civic action or a benevolent bestowment. The great masters of the 20th century inspired these paths in theatre.
The involvement of the citizen, the person, in artistic work is now integrated in the artistic philosophy of many actors, playwrights and directors. Art is no longer simply the creation of forms but also of interaction.” Gabriele Vacis

WHO IS IT FOR?

The course is aimed at educators, actors, social workers, teachers, psychologists, musicians, dancers, medical and health staff, singers and all those people with jobs involving contact with groups of people who choose to use the instrument of theatre in both the artistic and social spheres.

THE SEMINAR

This practical seminar focuses on the importance of INCLUSIVE THEATRE; that is, theatre as an opportunity for INTEGRATION, SHARING and COHESION. Participants will experience the method developed by the Institute of Theatrical Practices for Personal Wellness that is based on the constant and rigorous exercise of AWARENESS and ATTENTION, on SHARED BREATH (the COHORT), an articulated instrument for the construction of one’s presence and a way of reflecting on space and on relationships, on the body listening to other bodies to create common actions.

OBJECTIVES

The principal objectives are found within the training work conducted by Vacis at the Institute of Theatrical Practices for Personal Wellness, among the motivations for which is the use of theatre as an opportunity for inclusion, integration and sharing. The primary objective is, above all, the ability to live in a state of awareness in relation to others, on stage and in everyday life.

It is not only actors who need profound awareness of themselves and others: all need that same awareness. Theatrical techniques have always contributed to personal wellness. In classical Greece, the tragedy was the place the community came together. Theatrical practices support sociality, medicine and education. Underlying these human necessities there is, in fact, always the ability to BE. To consciously inhabit one’s time and one’s space. Independently or in relation to other human beings.
